ABOUT US

Inspiring creativity in young minds

Join the fun!

With small class sizes, you can learn the skills of creativity, design, making and crafting while exploring and learning from mistakes and having fun at the same time. We'll use old-fashioned crafts like felting, knitting and sewing - with a modern twist (and minimal use of glue guns.) We'll come up with new ways of making awesome things, and up-cycling every day items! At the end of term you'll get to take home your own pieces, along with a dash of inspiration to keep creating.

The courses are currently run by Franny, a mum-of-two, business owner, clothing designer, and life-long crafter with a passion for creativity.

Lessons are based at Franny's studio in Cambridge New Zealand. Franny is so full of ideas, the hard part is narrowing down to just one term (so you are welcome to pre-register for next term also)!

"Creative Club started in 2018 after I gave a speech at my son's school about the four costumes I had made for the World of Wearable Art. I was then invited to teach crafts to groups of children at school - and realized how much I enjoyed it! I like to make something every day, and working with children is a sheer joy (and can lead to great ideas and conversations)! I want to inspire others to make!"

Crafternoon Creative Club

During Term we run a series of Creative Clubs after school.

Our Monday crew will learn how to smash and cut tiles to make amazing mosaics. We might use coloured tiles or even up-cycle vintage plates. We'll design a piece and work on it throughout the term (could be a couple of items depending on your design). Get your ideas flowing, and your hammer smashing!

Experience Level: Suit 8-12 year olds
When: Mondays 4pm to 5pm.
Where: Franny's Studio in Cambridge
Price: $60  - 4 sessions over 4 weeks
Maximum 6 children. All materials supplied.

With our Tuesday crew, we will explore creative skills for fibre art. We will focus on wet felting with 100% wool, and learn how the action of water, soap, and hand muscles cause wool fibres to shrink and change into balls or wool fabric. We'll make felted balls to produce our own garland or necklace.

Where: Franny's Studio in Cambridge

What the kids say...

Franny supports us when we can't do something, and we get to do our own
designs!

My favourite thing is making the clay because its so mushy and fun.

Annalise

Franny teaches us lots of new things and skills that we can do.

Ivy

I've never made this type of stuff before and I really like doing it.

Grace

"In 2017 Franny came to Cambridge East Primary School to share her journey and passion for art with over 150 students.  The whole time she spoke, everyone was captivated and in awe of her Wearable Arts that she had brought along.
To this day we still have a large number of students who talk about how awesome this experience was and they have taken away her message that we can all be creative and brave through how we express ourselves with art."
Mr Bird, Assistant Principal at Cambridge East School
